NZ Pump Co. Story

From small beginnings in a home garage and the development of a single product branded as Ezi-action® Drum Pump, NZ Pump Co. (NZPC) is a showcase of Kiwi success and resilience through adversity.

Today this market-leading product is still being used to safely extract chemicals and liquid foods from bulk containers and barrels across the world. NZPC has full production sites in Hamilton, and in California in the United States with a sales office in Staffordshire, England.

Following successful careers in commercial banking and recognising the potential of NZPC, in 2019 Jeff Hitchcock, Greg Flower, and Martin Koers took the plunge and purchased the business.

Our story

Beginnings

The story began when founder David Johns recognised the ability to create a drum pump by utilising design elements from the manual Shallow Well Pump.

Admired for its operational simplicity, efficiency and durability the newly designed pump went on to win the Innovation of the Year award at the New Zealand Fieldays in 1991.

When David Johns passed away in 2002, he left a strong legacy within NZ Pump Co, which then grew strongly under the leadership of his wife and business partner Claire Jenkinson-Johns.
